SAN ANTONIO — San Antonio Spurs star Victor Wembanyama scored a career-high 50 points — including a career-high eight 3-pointers — in a 139-130 win over the Washington Wizards on Wednesday night.
Prior to Wembanyama, the last three 50-point games produced by Spurs came in overtime games. David Robinson in 1994 logged the franchise’s last 50-point outing in regulation.
At 20 years and 314 days, Wembanyama is the fourth-youngest player to score 50 points. At 7-foot-4, he’s also the tallest to do so.
Wembanyama’s previous high was 49 points in a 130-126 overtime victory against New York.

Wembanyama was 8-of-16 from deep against Washington and collected 6 rebounds and 3 blocks in 32 minutes. He is the first player in league history with 20 3-pointers and 13 blocks over a three-game span.
For his career, Wembanyama has now recorded a 50-point game, a 5×5 game and a 10-block game. Just three other players — Anthony Davis, Hakeem Olajuwon and Robinson — have accomplished all of that in a career since blocks became official in 1973-74.
Wembanyama’s 50-point game followed Orlando Magic star Paolo Banchero‘s on Oct. 28; Banchero (who turned 22 on Tuesday) was 21 at the time of his 50-point outing, making this the first season in NBA history that a pair of players age 21 or younger reached the milestone.
The only other season of multiple 50-point games by a player age 21 or younger came in 2005-06, as LeBron James reached the milestone twice at the age of 20.
