Dallas Stars forward Tyler Seguin will undergo hip surgery and is expected to miss 4-6 months.
The team announced that the surgery will repair a left-side femoral acetabular infringement and left-side hip labrum.
The 32-year-old was placed on injured reserve. He has missed five games this season with lower-body issues.
It’s a tough blow for the Stars, who are third in the Central division. Seguin was off to a hot start with 9 goals and 20 points in 19 games. That put him well ahead of last season’s pace when he finished with 52 points in 68 games.
