NEW ORLEANS — Tight end Taysom Hill left Sunday’s loss to the Los Angeles Rams after hurting his knee, marking the third time that he has left a game with an injury this season.

The Saints believe Hill suffered some type of ligament injury, and he is scheduled to undergo an MRI on Monday to determine the extent of the damage, sources told ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

“It doesn’t look great,” a source said.

Hill appeared to take a helmet to his left knee while running for a first down late in the 21-14 loss to the Rams. His knee bent back awkwardly as he fell to the ground, and he remained down as athletic trainers attended to him.

Teammates and several Rams players knelt on the ground as trainers tested Hill’s leg before calling for a cart. Hill got on the cart as the crowd chanted his name, and he waved to the fans before being driven off the field.

“I love how our fans treated him,” quarterback Derek Carr said of the cheers for Hill. “I would expect nothing less from our fans.”

Saints interim coach Darren Rizzi said Hill would be going through testing and did not have an update about the severity of the injury after the game.

“Taysom goes down, a lot of the guys are disappointed,” Rizzi said of the team’s mood after Hill’s injury. “He’s obviously a very respected and well-liked guy in our locker room.”

Starting guard Nick Saldiveri also left on a cart, and safety Tyrann Mathieu exited with a shoulder injury. Rizzi said Saldiveri was going through tests as well.

Hill led the team with five catches for 37 yards and carried the ball five times for 10 yards.

He left a Week 2 game against the Dallas Cowboys and was transported to a local hospital. He missed the next game and then returned to play a half against the Atlanta Falcons before leaving again. He missed the next three games before returning in Week 8.

Hill has dealt with a reported bruised lung and has also played with cracked ribs this season.
