ALLEN PARK, Mich. — Detroit Lions center Frank Ragnow has been ruled out of Monday night’s game against the Seattle Seahawks after suffering a partially torn pectoral muscle, according to coach Dan Campbell.

Ragnow was injured during Sunday’s win at the Arizona Cardinals. Initially, he wasn’t ruled out of the upcoming game, but Campbell says they won’t risk further damage, especially this early in the season.

“We’re not going to mess with that,” Campbell said. “Look, Frank’s tough. He’s as tough as nails. If anybody can play through it, it’s him. I think we’ve got to be smart. It’s early in the year. We’ve got a lot of football left.”

Ragnow earned second-team All-Pro honors last season and was named to the Pro Bowl in 2022 and 2023. He is a pivotal piece of Detroit’s offensive unit, but Detroit’s coaching staff is confident in the team’s depth to be able to pick up the slack.

“No doubt. We love Frank. One of the biggest things about Frank is his mind. He is two steps, three steps ahead,” said Scottie Montgomery, the Lions’ assistant head coach/running backs coach. “We’ll come in and I’ll be working on pressure packages and everything and he’s calling out the pressure packages before I can even try to, so that’s the main point, but one thing that we’ve been able to do here with [Lions general manager] Brad [Holmes] and with Dan [Campbell] is they’ve built this thing with some depth.”
