DENVER – Technically, Brock Bowers is a rookie tight end. Realistically, and to the delight of the Las Vegas Raiders, the No. 13 overall draft pick is a multi-skilled player.
Bowers went up and over Denver Broncos safety P.J. Locke on a middle-of-the-field jump ball from quarterback Gardner Minshew, hauled in the ball, and scampered down the left sideline for a 57-yard catch-and-run touchdown for the first score of his career.
It was the longest play by the Raiders this season. It also was the longest reception by a Raiders TE since Darren Waller in Week 17 of 2019 (75 yards, also at Denver).
It was the fourth play from scrimmage for the Raiders, playing without starters at receiver (Davante Adams, who is rehabbing a hamstring injury while awaiting a trade) and running back (Zamir White, who injured his groin in practice this week).
It was also Minshew’s fourth TD pass in six games, which gave the Raiders a 7-0 lead with 12:57 to play in the first quarter.
