The Seahawks jumped out to a 17-3 lead over the Miami Dolphins on Sunday at Lumen Field after Geno Smith hit DK Metcalf for a 71-yard touchdown on the final play of the first quarter. Metcalf now has three career receiving touchdowns of 70-plus yards, tying Daryl Turner for the most in team history, per ESPN Research.
The play marked Metcalf’s second touchdown of the season. Smith connected with him for a 56-yard score in Seattle’s win over the New England Patriots in Week 2.
Metcalf helped set up Seattle’s first touchdown with a back-shoulder catch over Kendall Fuller in the red zone. Running back Zach Charbonnet found the end zone from 4 yards out on the next play.
The Seahawks also got a 56-yard field goal from Jason Myers on their opening possession. The Dolphins’ field goal came after Smith, trying to avoid a sack in his own end zone, threw an errant ball that bounced off one of Charbonnet’s hands for an interception.
